| Red Shed In Snow This was done from a photo taken by my son-in-law, Mike Church. His folks own some property on the north-east side of Moscow and this charming little shed sits out on a hill there. The fact that the shed is painted in "Christmas" colors only aided the composition. My desire was to capture the look and feel of the nearby rural, wooded area surrounding Moscow.

| Winter Twilight These two farm buildings and the view of Moscow Mountain are like good friends to my wife and me. We get to enjoy this changing vista on the frequent walks we take near our home on the east side of Moscow. I tried to capture the feel of those last moments after the sun's gone down (very early in winter), with its final glow showing on the snowy fields.

| Winter Rest This painting is based on a photo taken by my friend Bill Church. He did all the heavy lifting of tramping out into a field near Moscow and finding this snow-covered tractor. I wanted to re-create the look of a hazy winter afternoon and the tractor, with all its latent power, quietly waiting out the winter season. The machine itself and the landscape speak volumes about why I love living here.

| January Sunset Clear winter days on the Palouse are often followed by remarkably warm-looking sunsets. The final colors of the heavens at day's end spread across the rolling hills, with little to obstruct our enjoyment of the last moments of light. I wanted to convey this feeling of day's end, as well as a sense of place.
